Ham was found outside with his leg caught and severely mangled in an illegal jaw trap. He had a chip, but when his owners were contacted, they said they didn’t want him. That’s all we needed to hear. We rescued him and immediately took him to the emergency vet. His injuries were not repairable, and he underwent amputation of his right front leg.

In spite of his trauma, Ham is a big sweetie who loves to sit in laps and roll over to have his belly rubbed. He has been recovering well. He is still a little wobbly on his feet, but he has become very good at climbing. The cubby hole near the top of the cat tree is his favorite place to hang out.
